  • Some things are just 'right' aren't they? Laurel and Hardy, Cornish and Pasty, Doncaster and Sunshine, Chegwin and Nakedness. They all go as if all the atoms in all the worlds had come together to make one perfect union. And so it is with pasta and pesto. Two similar words yet two different ingredients. Pasta, that great staple of anyone's store cupboard (forget the Italians, they let it go ages ago) and pesto, a perfect amalgamation of basil, garlic, toasted pine nuts, olive oil, cheese and lemon juice. Throw in a bit of salt and freshly-ground pepper and I'm in hog heaven. Put pasta in the pesto or the pesto in the pasta, I'm not bothered, they make a perfect dish.
