Product review: Chicken and Bacon Layered Salad
Posted on August 23, 2011 | No CommentsSalads are a guilty pleasure. In between processed chicken nuggets, economy pizzas and tomato ketchup, there's nothing like a piece of lettuce, maybe a few crunchy veggies and if you're feeling fruity, a nice dressing to give you a healthy hit of green nutrition. Properly done, a salad should taste of Summer and sunshine and imbue in us a propensity to strip our clothes off and go prancing through an overgrown meadow. -
Product review: Tesco Value Snack Assortment
Posted on August 22, 2011 | No Comments58 pence doesn't buy you much in todays day and age does it? 28 one-penny chews (inflation - gee, thanks Labour / Tory Government in power (delete as appropriate)), 1/3 of a fun-size Mars Bar (if bought from a motorway service station), a few pages from the latest copy of Hustler, a small butterfly net, an antique egg-cup, the list goes on. I think I defeated my own point there. -
Product review: Tesco Jamaican Chicken and Rice
Posted on August 17, 2011 | No CommentsAfter being blown away by Levi Roots Caribbean curry ready meal, this effort had a lot to live up to and to be honest, I really wasn't expecting much. Tesco are the big enemy, the huge conglomerate squeezing us poor punters for every penny we've got and I've found their ready-meals to be the result of a hegemonic and executive boardroom approach. Nothing good ever came out of a boardroom, so said my Dad anyway, and when it comes down to the ready meal market, I'm inclined to agree. Often bland, poor value and downright yucky and that's just the Chairman.
